Jonathan Vafai Chemistry Department lab - x88465 home - 212-980-1174 Undergraduate (3rd year) Biochemistry major Registered Background: I have taken most of the requirements for the Biochemistry major including Chemistry, Physics (mechanics), Organic and BiochemistryI. (I am currently taking Biochem II and Physics E&M). In addition, I teach a recitation for Prof. Fishman's Principles of Organic Chemistry, and I've done research for several years in the Schwartz lab. My computer experience includes 4 years of UNIX, on Linux, Solaris and Irix. I can program in Java, Perl and csh. I was introduced to molecular modeling by Randy Murphy who was teaching biochem then. Last year got a SCIVIS account (shortly before Ed Friedman passed away) and played around with SPARTAN and InsightII for a project I was trying to work on with restriction enzymes. I did search around the PDB at that time and printed out some neat pictures, but I really didn't know what I was doing. Here, I hope to learn more about molecular modeling. I love Biochemistry and enjoy using computers very much, and I would like to integrate these interests as much as possible. Ultimately, I plan go to medical school in '00. I am looking forward to an interesting semester! -- ============ C84C DECA 8E79 B387 92B6 A4B0 72CA C46E ============ Jonathan J.
